Understanding Design, Augmenting Teams
On-Site Architectural Co-Design in AR
PROJECT
How can XR technologies become useful tools within actual architectural practice? This project brings researchers and professional architects together around the renovation of an existing house in Tokyo. The architects are also the homeowners, providing a real-world setting for investigating XR-supported visualization and co-design.
APPROACH
How can XR technologies become useful tools within actual architectural practice? This project brings researchers and professional architects together around the renovation of an existing house in Tokyo. The architects are also the homeowners, providing a real-world setting for investigating XR-supported visualization and co-design.
CONTRIBUTION
Rather than evaluating XR through an abstract design exercise, the project embeds experimentation within a real renovation process, allowing new applications to emerge through dialogue between researchers, designers, and users.
